The Problem
Through analysis of reviews from CPR and BLS Provider course participants, the American Heart Association (AHA) learned that new instructors with less than six months of experience teaching AHA courses are receiving undesirable scores. In response, the AHA completed a gap analysis and updated the Program. AHA leadership has requested an evaluation proposal to validate the improvements and ensure that instructor ratings meet the expected benchmark.
The Solution
This evaluation employs a four-level approach, rooted in the work of Donald L. Kirkpatrick and influenced by the Jack Phillips model. The evaluation levels scaffold together, with the results at Level 4 demonstrating the impact of the learning initiative on key business indicators. Goals for each level are carefully crafted to build a solid chain of evidence showing that the program updates have led to the desired results. Stakeholders considering investment in a formal evaluation of the Instructor Essentials Course may approve the proposal before implementation.
